Aaaah, the Texas BootScooters!
The Texas BootScooters are a
country/western line dance team composed of 6 adults who
enjoy working together to perform and entertain for many
different types of events...community, corporate, church,
political, charity, weddings...you name it!
The original team was founded in 1993
by Chris Hookie (possibly best known for his choreography of
the Zydeco Lady line dance). I joined the team in
1994, and it has been an important part of my life ever
since!
In 1998 I became Team Director, when
Chris' other responsibilities prevented him from continuing
in that role. At that point, we re-organized,
modifying the name slightly from the Texas Boot Scooters
(three words) to the current Texas BootScooters (two
words), created a logo, and established some guidelines to
compliment our new image. In 1999, we became a
competition team as well, competing in both the ACDA and
UCWDC circuits.
Current team members are:
-
Don Rawe
-
Carol Rawe
-
Eliza Ching
-
Lynn Herr
-
Vince Puente
-
Mona Puente
Some highlights of our performance
repertoire are:
-
foreground dancers for the popular
band, Asleep at the Wheel
-
half-time performers for TCU vs.
Cincinnati football game
-
foreground dancers for the popular
band, Jerry Jeff Walker
-
opening entertainers for the
American Red Cross, Chisholm Trail Chapter's Stars at
Night Gala
Because we've been together so long,
and work together so closely on projects, membership on the
team is by invitation. |
